Rooms boast a Japanese-style living area with a tatami (woven mat) floor and a low table with seating cushions. Yukata robes and tabi socks are provided, while some rooms have a bathroom completely made from Hinoki cypress wood.

Featuring a beautiful serene Zen garden and typical walkways with pebbles and stepping stones, Shinsen Ryokan offers a soothing and nostalgic Japanese environment. The entire ryokan has tatami (woven mat) floors, and a natural acoustic device welcomes guests with gentle sounds at the entrance of their room.

A Japanese breakfast and a traditional multi-course meal with local seasonal dishes is presented at Tearoom Wabisuke. The dining area has open hearths and seating cushions on the tatami (woven mat) floor, and chairs are available upon request.

Ryokan Shinsen is a 20-minute drive from Takachiho Jinja Shrine, and the sea of clouds at Kunimi-ga-Oka or 'Nirvana in Aso' can be visited a 15-minute drive away.Takachiho Bus Centre is a 10-minute walk away, while Kumamoto Airport is within a 90-minute drive.

    行ったのは13:30。予約ナシでギリギリ入れました。夏休みということもあるらしくほとんど地元の人のお客さんで埋まってました。食べてる間も結構入れ替わり立ち替わりお客さんが入ってました。そばも美味しいですが、一緒に頼んだ高千穂牛のローストビーフと天ぷらも美味しかったです。
