Design Hotels

by Oliver Lind, Hotel Researcher
Design Hotels are known for their creative and unique interior designs, created by both up-and-coming and well-established designers. These three hotels, located in various cities worldwide, are especially noteworthy for their innovative and stylish aesthetics.
The Whitby Hotel is an 86-room hotel located in Midtown Manhattan. The hotel is known for its individually designed rooms, which feature distinct color schemes. The hotel was designed by award-winning Original Kit Kemp and features many of her signature touches, including oversized headboards, fabric designs, elegant rugs, ceramics, artworks, and cushions. The hotel also has floor-to-ceiling factory casement windows.

Vertigo | a Member of Design Hotels™ in Dijon, France, is a sleek and modern hotel with a black-and-white color scheme and contemporary twists in the guestrooms, like suspended beds, swirling patterns on carpets, mirror media entertainment systems, and wardrobe-doors-turned-bathroom-mirrors. The onsite Embassy bar features an ornate ceiling with original stucco from the late 1800s, gilded frames with vintage photographs, and a glass chandelier. The hotel's statement-making lamps by Hervé Langlais, coffee tables by Maria Jeglinska, and select Linge Roset pieces.

Noūs Santorini is a hotel designed to reflect the natural beauty of the island it is located on. The hotel's colors, materials, and overall design all take inspiration from the island, creating a space that is both elegant and minimalistic. The guestrooms are designed to reflect the colors of the island's famous beaches, while the rest of the hotel takes inspiration from the volcanic landscape.
