Comfy stay in the desert

by Oliver Lind, Hotel Researcher
Banyan Tree has opened a new resort in Saudi Arabia's Ashur Valley of AlUla.

The secluded retreat, situated close to a UNESCO-protected archaeological site, features 47 tented suites and boasts the exclusive Dune Three-Bedroom Villa, complete with an outdoor terrace and a pool.

The property was designed by Paris-based architecture practice AW2 to blend in with the surroundings, using a 'light touch' approach to minimize environmental impact.

Banyan Tree AlUla combines modern luxury with the beautiful natural landscape of the Ashur Valley. The villas are designed to be adapted to the cultural and natural specificities of the area and feature sand-colored canvases to keep the interiors cool.

Our favorites are a restaurant with gourmet Arabic and Thai cuisine and an idyllic spa with natural rock pools and sweeping valley vistas from their private terraces.
